🗓️ Date : February 17, 2011
🎮 Game : Trials HD
📍 Event : Building contest
The Build to Skill Contest (often abbreviated as BTS Contest) was organized by xIRON WARLORDx, one of the most active members of the Trials HD building scene. The competition invited creators to design technical skill-based tracks using either the Hill Climb or In Flames environments — two of the most popular bases for precision-style tracks in the game.
Participants were allowed up to two entries, though only the highest-scoring one could count toward the final ranking, ensuring fairness and diversity among the winners.
Contest Rules & Judging
Each submission was evaluated by a panel of judges, who scored every track from 1 to 5 across five categories, each with a specific weight toward the total score:
Driving Line (25%) – Tested the player’s technical ability and flow control.
Difficulty Progression (25%) – Assessed how naturally the challenge increased throughout the course.
Atmosphere / Detail (20%) – Focused on visual design, creativity, and cohesion.
Fun / Replayability (20%) – Measured how enjoyable and addictive the track felt.
Overall Effort (10%) – Considered polish and general construction quality.
The judging team included:
- xIRON WARLORDx
- WarlorD098098
- Ender IXI
- Mad MIKE NL.
Players had until February 1st, 2011 to submit their entries, which were to be named “BTS-gamertag-1” or “-2” and uploaded to their file share.
If a video showcase was needed, participants could reach out to BlueMageFTW or FlipTaco, who offered to record and share the entries.
