First ninja level 9 pass

Iconic

🗓️ Date : August 31, 2021
🎮 Game : Trials Fusion
📍 Context : Iconic run

The first ever level 9 pass in Trials history — a legendary breakthrough that pushed the absolute limits of what was considered possible.

Final Sorrow by slikscythez was immediately recognized as a track beyond anything ever built before. Even its +CP (extra checkpoints) version — designed to be easier — was already considered the hardest track ever passed for a long time. This version had only been cleared by RJBurger and PennyJX, and even then, barely. It was widely accepted that the full version would be at least one full difficulty level harder, placing it firmly in level 9 territory, despite no full clears having yet occurred.

In August 2021GT4, who had previously taken a break from Fusion, returned and — after warming up by passing several level 8s — made the bold decision to attempt the impossible: grind the full version of Final Sorrow. At that time, only RJ had even attempted the full version seriously, but had ultimately decided not to fully commit.

GT4’s grind reignited the community’s attention, and viewers watched as he streamed his attempts. After days of grinding, he reached the very end of the track… only to fail the last obstacle — a heartbreaking moment. In his own words:

“I don’t know what to say. I know I will have to retry but it will be hard mentally.”

Failures like these have historically had devastating psychological impacts in the Trials community — peqz, for instance, left the scene after a similar soul-crushing moment. But GT4 did not give up.

Just 2 days later, he came back and successfully passed Final Sorrow, becoming the first player ever to do so — and immediately declared it a level 9. Coming from GT4, who is known to rate tracks lower than most riders, this declaration carried immense weight.

He logged over 60 restarts and 10 timeouts — a massive grind, especially when you consider that he passed brutally hard tracks like VictoriousKing Pin 2, and Darko (top-tier level 8s) with 0–1 timeouts. Even the +CP version of Final Sorrow had taken him 4 timeouts, further illustrating the immense difficulty of the full version.

This moment was a historic milestone, pushing the ceiling of ninja tracks to a level previously deemed unattainable, and solidifying Final Sorrow as the first true level 9 ever passed.
