On this day, one of the most foundational ninja tracks in Trials history was released : Citadel, created by oSKUMBAGo.
Often cited as the very first ninja track ever made, Citadel played a crucial role in shaping what would become the ninja subgenre. Created by the same player who coined the term “ninja” within the Trials community, the track laid the conceptual and mechanical groundwork for what would define ninja gameplay: technical precision, elevated difficulty beyond « Extreme », and a distinctive aesthetic approach.
Although B34st Moves (also by oSKUMBAGo) was the first ninja track to be officially documented on the Trials forums, Citadel is widely recognized by early players as the true origin point of ninja mapping — even if no definitive video evidence confirms its precedence. The track has since achieved legendary status, not just for its timing, but for how it encapsulated the experimental spirit of early custom mapping in Trials HD.
Its first known completion came from the creator himself, marking the beginning of a long tradition where track builders would be the first to test and pass their own intricate creations.
